It was the staff who started as coworkers and somehow became family.
It was the regulars who had “their” table,
“their booth, and stories that went back decades.
It was the first-time guests who walked in not knowing what to expect and left with a new favorite place.
You made Hackney’s on Lake what it was.
Thank you for every laugh, every story, every meal, and every memory made around our tables.

The final weekend at Hackney’s on Lake is going out with a BANG! We’ve got Bagpipers all weekend long—Friday, Saturday & Sunday nights! And the music keeps rolling with Phin & Karl Friday & Sunday, plus Peter Brady taking over Saturday night!

Come raise a glass, sing along, and help us send off Hackney’s on Lake in true Hackney’s style.
One last weekend. Three nights. Plenty of memories.

Since 1955, this building has served up Hackneyburgers, French-Fried Onions, and a whole lot of Glenview memories — birthdays, sports banquets, first jobs, meeting friends at the Circle Bar
In early September, we’ll be closing our Lake Avenue location for good.
It’s not a decision we take lightly. But a 700-seat restaurant made sense in the 1960s — it doesn’t in 2026. This will let us focus on creating an excellent customer experience at our Harms location, where our exciting renovations will be complete.
We hope you’ll come and celebrate 71 years of great memories over the next month. And that you’ll continue to make new memories a mile and a half up the road at our newly refreshed Harms Road bar —same family, same 87 years of history, just a nice, new interior for the next chapter.
Thank you to everyone who’s worked here, eaten here and made this giant, 700-seat restaurant feel like home.

It’s the little details that make an event special! 🌸

We loved seeing these beautiful floral arrangements from another Glenview staple, Morning Glory. 💐 With deep roots in the community, they’ve been creating beautiful arrangements for Glenview celebrations for years—and we love working alongside another local favorite!

Let’s say Cheers!
Check out this Hard C***r we are serving by RIGHT BEE C***r. Their Semi-Dry c***r is simple: fermented apples and a drop of honey from their own beehives. It's light, crisp, and refreshing, with just a touch of sweetness. Their blend of fresh-pressed American grown apples are fermented dry with a champagne-style yeast.

We sure love it and hope you will too!

What people say

American restaurants are known for their delicious burgers and onion rings, and Hackney's on Harms in Glenview is no exception. This family-owned restaurant has been serving up their world-famous Hackneyburger since 1939, and they still make it fresh daily. The history of the restaurant is fascinating, with Jim Masterson and his wife Kitz buying the tavern from his aunt and uncle who operated it during Prohibition. Today, the restaurant is still owned and operated by their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

In addition to their famous burger, Hackney's on Harms also offers live music on their patio every Thursday night during the summer. Guests can enjoy jazz music from renowned local musicians Nate Lepine and Anton Hatwich while sipping on cocktails.

The restaurant values its customers' opinions and frequently asks for feedback on social media. They even wished their customers a Happy Easter when they closed for the day.

Overall, Hackney's on Harms is a must-visit American restaurant in Glenview that offers delicious food with a rich history.
