We’re going to make a post encouraging you to participate in May Day—with its calls for no school, no work, and no shopping—by asking you to please keep shopping with us, *especially* on May Day. It’s a little awkward, but bear with us.
When you buy ice cream from Bartleby’s, the biggest percentage of the sale price goes to paying our staff, who, as you may have noticed, are kind, generous, and hard-working people who do their best every day to make a pleasant space for you and your family to have fun. The second biggest percentage goes to paying for our ingredients, which we prioritize buying from local suppliers. Our main ingredients, milk and cream, come from , an actually literal small family farm in the heart of Illinois. So if you support workers, families, and cows over billionaires, you can feel pretty good about supporting us.
On May Day, we’ll also be donating 15% of our net sales (i.e., after we pay taxes, which no one loves but EVERYONE SHOULD DO) to , an organization working to develop people power through training and mobilizing activists who want to create justice for their communities. So please, come buy ice cream from us this Friday. And if you can, take some time to let billionaires and ICE know that they shouldn’t exist. Thank you.
