As many of you may know by now, I recently listed the property and building of Sarkis Café for sale. This announcement has created an outpouring of support and emotion from so many of you, and I wanted to take a moment to clarify the situation.
Sarkis Café has been part of the Evanston, IL community since 1965 and part of my family since 2000, when my late husband, Jeff Cramin, purchased Sarkis from the original owner. Over the years, my children have worked in the restaurant alongside several longtime employees whom we consider part of our extended family. During this time, we have come to know many of you, as well as your children and grandchildren.
Despite some inaccurate media reports, Sarkis remains open for business and continues to operate just as it has for more than sixty-five years. There are no plans for closure. While the restaurant may transition or possibly even be in a new location, my hope is that Sarkis Café — along with its longtime employees — will continue serving Lorettas and Disasters® for many years to come.
Thank you for your loyalty, understanding, and continued support!
Marla Cramin
