What people say

LTHS Transition Marketplace is a local business that offers a unique and meaningful experience for students with disabilities/abilities. The Transition Program provides a continuum of services in an authentic setting, allowing students to practice and apply independent living and vocational skills. The program includes exposure to public transportation, access to a district-owned house with a garden where produce is grown and sold at the LaGrange farmer’s market and local restaurants.

One of the highlights of the program is the student-operated coffee business called Transition Perks. This business was started in-house in 2012 and has since expanded to include a storefront within the community. The success of this business is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the students involved, who are developing skills necessary for future competitive employment.

The partnership between Transition Perks and Tropical Sno owner Nick Cozzi, as well as United Kitchen owner Kelly Ford, has been instrumental in supporting this program. Customers can now enjoy Transition Perks coffee at United Kitchen while supporting scholarships, vocational training programs, and additional resources for students.

Overall, LTHS Transition Marketplace is an inspiring example of how businesses can make a positive impact on their community by providing opportunities for individuals with disabilities/abilities to develop valuable skills and gain meaningful employment experience.
