It’s the drop you’ve been waiting for: THE JUNE 27 SATURDAY SIPS LINEUP!!!! Find yourself in Savoie with the wines of Camille and Mathieu Apffel, tossing back resinous reds and whites that taste like an Alpine stream. Benji is opening ‘Avant la Tempête,’ which is a white wine made from the Jacquère grape, ’Soleyane Blanc,’ which is Altesse, and ‘Soleyane Rouge,’ a red blend made of Mondeuse and Pinot Noir. These native grapes are waiting to carry you to the French mountainside from 2-4pm this Saturday. You pay nothing if you’re a wine club member, which is a great deal. It’s $10 otherwise, which is still a pretty good deal. But perhaps you should join the club, eh?

This week’s Saturday Sips tasting shines a spotlight on Yannick Meckert, an Alsatian whose winemaking decisions stem from a desire to “break out of the ever-perfectionist straitjacket imposed by the appellation and the social pressure of those who uphold good taste” and to “bring charm, imagination and poetry, to thumb my nose at the wine that fits into the boxes.” Wow. Cool. Want to taste what the heck that means? We do, too. Join us from 2-4pm on Saturday for our weekly tasting with Ivan. It’s $10 to taste three wines, and free for wine club members.

It’s all there, pink and light red, unfiltered and unfined! You sipped on fizzy lifting drinks from Northern Italy! You bumped into the heights of happiness which now have to be shared and enjoyed, so you get everything! You win! Visit Ivan & the Sparkling Wine Factory at this week’s Saturday Sips. There will be no everlasting gobstoppers or snozzberry wallpaper, but the northern Italian bubbles will be fizzy and uplifting. This weekly sip session is from 2-4pm every Saturday and it’s $10 to taste but FREE if you’re a wine club member.

One used to tune into a radio station (ask Claude about those, ya ankle biters) to hear a particular style of music. Similarly, wine importers broadcast styles of wine. Knowing where to set your dial with importers can close the space between you and wine you love, and Ivan’s got on the airwaves (grapewaves?) for this week’s Saturday Sipping. Come by from 2-4pm and taste across France with Varda via Ivan. As always, these weekly tastings are free for wine club members, $10 for the rest of you, and lots of fun for everyone.
