A Heartfelt Thank You to Downers Grove
This past weekend, we quietly closed the doors of our Downers Grove location after more than 20 years of serving the community.
We didn’t make this decision lightly—and we didn’t give advance notice, because over the years we’ve learned that sometimes a quiet and respectful goodbye protects our guests, our team, and the business from unintended consequences. That said, we know it also left some of our most loyal staff and patrons surprised, and for that, we’re truly sorry.
To those who’ve expressed hurt or frustration: we hear you. But we also want to gently share a truth that’s rarely visible from the outside. For years—especially since COVID—we’ve carried this location not for profit, but for people. Payroll was met, vendors were paid, taxes submitted, rent honored—even when it meant sacrificing personally. Our priority has always been to take care of others first, even when it left us completely drained. This decision wasn’t about greed—it was about finally accepting that love and effort alone couldn't save a business that needed more than we had left to give.
To the team members who showed up day after day, through every season of change—you have our deepest gratitude. You made this place what it was. And to our loyal guests and neighbors, thank you for being part of the Emmett’s family.
Though this chapter closes, the Emmett’s story continues in West Dundee and Palatine—and the spirit of hospitality, community, and craft remains at the heart of everything we do.

After 21 Years And Over A Million Beers Together...
To our cherished Downers Grove guests,
Thank you for being part of an incredible journey.
After more than two decades of memories, meals, and great beer, we have closed our Downers Grove location as of June 1st, 2025. It’s been an unforgettable run — and we are deeply grateful for your loyalty, your laughter, and your support.
Though this chapter has come to an end, our story continues in West Dundee and Palatine, where the Emmett’s experience lives on. We’d be honored to raise a glass with you again at either location.

To get to the pub located on Main Street in Downers Grove, you can take the train or bus to the Downers Grove Main Street station. From there, head east on Main Street for a few blocks and you will arrive at your destination.
If you prefer to drive, take one of the nearby highways (such as 355 or 88) to the Ogden Avenue exit and head west until you reach Main Street. Look for parking options along Main Street and surrounding side streets.
