Today is crucial as many businesses are choosing to close and stand with our community across the country. As a family-owned restaurant, closing our doors isn’t something we can do — not because we don’t care, but because our team and their families depend on this place, just as we depend on them.
Taquerías Atotonilco was built by immigrants, for immigrants and for a community that knows the value of hard work, sacrifice and showing up for one another. Our kitchen is made up of parents, providers, dreamers and neighbors — people who deserve stability, dignity and support.
While we remain open today, our hearts are with our immigrant community — our staff, our guests and the families who make neighborhoods like Pilsen what they are. As we step into a new year, we want to take a moment to say gracias, 2025, for the memories, the moments, and the community that filled our tables and our hearts.
This year reminded us why Atotonilco is more than tacos. We celebrated traditions with our community ofrenda, fed concert crowds late into the night, shared countless meals — from everyday taco runs and lunch stops to catered gatherings and family celebrations on the weekends.
We saw strangers become friends over tacos, families gather across generations and Pilsen show up the way it always does — with heart, culture and pride.
As we ring in the New Year, here’s a quick heads-up on our schedule:

Tonight, December 24, we’ll be closing early at 6pm and tomorrow we’ll be open with limited hours from 11:30am to 10pm.

To get to the restaurant located on S Blue Island Avenue in Chicago via public transport, you can take the CTA Pink Line to the 18th Street station and walk about 10 minutes. Alternatively, you can take the #9 Ashland bus or #60 Blue Island/26th bus and get off at 18th Street.
If driving, take I-55 and exit at Ashland Avenue. Head south on Ashland Avenue until you reach W 19th Street. Turn left onto W 19th Street and then right onto S Blue Island Avenue. There is street parking available around the restaurant.
