This November, I checked off a lifelong dream: dinner at Thomas Keller’s The French Laundry. The food was extraordinary, of course — but the energy was what struck me. Warm, relaxed, playful, and deeply human.
After dinner, we were invited into the kitchen. As we stepped inside, Chef Keller walked past. I murmured that he had taught me so much, and he paused just long enough to say, “Thanks, darlin’.”
A few minutes later, he returned and spoke with me about my catering business — a quiet, unexpected moment of connection with someone whose work has shaped my own path.
