Ready for some secrets? 👀
We’re giving you some!! Here’s our step-by-step process to make your very own Cherry Dump Cake with Chocolate Whip AT HOME! 🏡
HBFC Cherry Dump Cake with Chocolate Whip
Serves 6-8
Ingredients:
- 1¼ lbs cherries, frozen or fresh
- ⅓ cup water*
- ⅓ cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons lemon juice
- 1½ teaspoons vanilla extract
- 3 Tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 cup cake mix (homemade or storebought)
- 1 stick (½ cup) unsalted butter, cold
1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray a 9x9 baking pan evenly with pan spray.
2. Add cherries to the pan in an even layer and press down flat.
3. Combine water, sugar, lemon juice, vanilla, and cornstarch to make a slurry. Pour evenly over the fruit so it’s fully coated.*
*If using frozen berries, you can use the cherry juice from the defrosted berries in place of water
4. Sprinkle cake mix evenly over the top.
5. Cut butter into thin slices, and layer evenly over the cake mix, ensuring there are minimal batches of dry cake mix.
6. Bake at 350°F until golden brown and cake mix is set.
Chocolate Whip
Ingredients:
- 2 Tablespoons vanilla pudding powder
- 1½ teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 Tablespoons cocoa powder
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 Tablespoons granulated sugar
Instructions:
Combine all ingredients in a stand mixer fitted with a whisk attachment (or use a bowl with a hand mixer or whisk) and whisk until whipped and fluffy. Chill until ready to serve.
7. Serve with Chocolate Whip. ENJOY!!!

What people say
Honey Butter Fried Chicken is a must-visit for anyone in Chicago looking for the ultimate fried chicken experience. The locally-sourced, hormone-free, antibiotic-free, and cage-free chicken is brined to perfection in a mixture of salt, sugar, spices, and citrus before being expertly double battered in buttermilk and seasoned flour. The result is crispy, juicy, and bursting with flavor. And let's not forget the dollop of honey butter that takes this fried chicken to the next level.
But what sets Honey Butter Fried Chicken apart from other restaurants is their commitment to their employees. They believe in giving all of their staff a living wage and offer paid sick days, vacation days, paternal and maternal leave. They've even introduced gainsharing so that when the business exceeds expectations quarterly, all employees benefit.
This friendly neighborhood joint truly embodies hospitality by including it in the price of their food - no need to tip! So come on down to Honey Butter Fried Chicken for some delicious food and a feel-good dining experience.
