Thanks to
Hickory Hills Presbyterian Church and it's members once again for their continued donations.Big thanks to Debbie Zimmerman also.
Elsie's Food Pantry began in May 2000, inspired by the legacy of longtime church member Elsie Schraeder. The pantry was initially funded by memorial contributions and food donations from the Post Office's "Stamp Out Hunger" campaign, as well as support from the congregation. Elsie, a child of the Depression and a World War II bride, lived a life defined by her deep faith in Christ and her unwavering belief that God would provide. She welcomed everyone into her home, embodying a philosophy of generosity that ensured there was always "room for one more." A dedicated volunteer, she held numerous significant roles within her church community, including positions on the Board of Deacons and leadership roles in various women's societies. Additionally, she impacted many lives through her work with local organizations such as the PTA and PEO, along with volunteering for charities like the March of Dimes. Known for her contagious smile and optimistic outlook on life, Elsie's approach to kindness left an enduring legacy that continues to inspire those who benefit from the pantry today.
