This Mother’s Day was a special one. Our Mother, Grandmother, Pilsen community pioneer. Our patriarch had a portion of 18th Street named after her from Loomis to Laflin street. Pilsen legacy. Lucia “Lucy” Gutierrez was instrumental in the creation of Benito Juarez high school, The first health center in 17th & Ashland, The Rudy Lozano Library, many jobs, many, opportunities to our community when the Latino presence was being established. We are eternally grateful for her years of service and commitment to the cause.
