Red Bay Coffee Roasters keeps our Juneteenth drips flowing every year. We snagged some bags and will be brewing them all weekend. Come get a cup!

This year’s offering comes from Kenya’s Kericho County, where 430 smallholder farmers organized through the Boma Farmers Cooperative Society cultivate coffee in the fertile volcanic soils of western Kenya.
In the cup, you’ll find vibrant notes of juicy hibiscus and ripe cherry balanced by warm baking spice and a smooth caramel sweetness. The result is a coffee that is bright, expressive, and layered with complexity from the first sip to the last.
Grown at elevations ranging from 1,550 to 1,950 meters above sea level and fully washed before drying on raised beds, this coffee showcases the clarity and character that have made Kenyan coffees some of the most celebrated in the world.

I took a break from the cafe this weekend to hang with my industry peeps at Coffee Fest Trade Shows.
Here’s a small highlight of me being a tourist in my city as I make my way through Navy Pier.

Directions to S. Western Avenue in Chicago for the coffee shop:
- By Public Transport: Take the blue line and get off at Western stop. The coffee shop is about a 10-minute walk from there. You can also take bus route number 49B, which stops right outside the coffee shop.
- By Driving/Parking: If you’re driving, take I-290 W towards Chicago and exit at Damen Avenue. Turn right onto S. Western Avenue and look for parking spaces around the area or park on nearby streets where parking is allowed. The coffee shop will be on your left-hand side.
