Hello Fire It Up Friends and Family –
Fire it Up began this journey back in 2011. We took a small amount of money and invested in a food truck. We worked diligently to clean up the truck, pass all health inspections with flying colors, and create great food and a fun experience for everyone through caterings, festivals and random parking lots. With all of your support for 2 years straight, we were able to receive feedback, streamline our menu, and make a little bit of money. We sold the food truck in 2013 in order to get a small brick and mortar on North Aurora Road just West of route 59. This allowed us to operate more consistently and during ALL seasons of the year. At the time, we were feeling our American dream could actually come true. And then, bam! You all were gracious enough and we were absolutely surprised and humbled to be voted on to Chicago’s Best with Brittney Payton…”The Best of Route 59”. This was incredible. After being on Chicago’s Best, we were able to generate enough money to expand our little restaurant into the place it is today, still on North Aurora Road, but now East of Route 59! This move happened in 2016 and it was truly an American dream come true. We were slinging tacos and serving drinks while providing the highest quality product and experience to all of you! It was incredible and we have all of you to thank for your tremendous support.
Unfortunately, Covid 19 hit and on March 16th, 2020, we (and everyone else) were forced to close our doors and operate our businesses in a way that we never wanted. Who knew that for 4 years after that day, that we would still be struggling and operating at a loss. Covid relief grants were given, and we made darn sure that our staff were taken care of and that they still had jobs through all this detrimental chaos.
To this day, sales have never returned to pre-pandemic numbers. We’ve tried everything we know to increase traffic and sales. Fresh promotions, continued quality, fair prices, a remodel, and we even added Door Dash (against our will…lol…sorry Door Dash) for yet another option to order. Like everyone else, we’ve been damaged further with rising costs and a poor economy. We’ve been taking from our personal account to keep the business going in hopes that things will turn around with our efforts.
We truly appreciate ALL of our friends and family that gave us this amazing opportunity to own a small business and create great food and drinks for the community. Your unwavering support will always be remembered and sooooo appreciated!
We want to ensure that our amazing staff are recognized for all their hard work and dedication. Without them, we would’ve never been able to provide the food and service that Fire It Up is known for.
Fire It Up’s final day will be on SATURDAY, APRIL 27th. During the next week, we will be putting out promotions and hoping you can all come in to get your final taco fix from Fire It Up. Please come by and say hello (and good bye…sniff sniff.) Our amazing staff would appreciate your support during this difficult time.
God Bless, Cheers, and All our Love,
Fire It Up
