2011 was a big year for us and the in regards to Chicago Restaurants because that was the year that the Pleasant House Bakery and Royal Pies were born and the trib put together a map of all the places they’ve honored since 2011. While our original location is no longer a point on the map because we moved to in 2016 our Critics Choice “Outstanding Restaurant” award (2012) is still listed. Looking back it was an honor to be recognized for such an award as we are ready to celebrate 10 years in the Pilsen location this July! That’s 15 years of Pleasant House and Royal Pies. But the biggest thing about this Fryday Flashback to us is how small the original location was. We set out to make a big impact with our unique offerings and hospitality with a small footprint and even though we’ve sized-up we hope that original soul still shines through. One of the slides shows our pre-cloud-based technology point of sale system open to a bunch of separate customer tabs. We were counter-service only back then and that screen is a reminder of our very first table service where we served a bus of senior citizens for lunch who “inspired” us to take the leap in a 17 seat former hot dog stand to take our service up a notch (even though we went right back to counter service after that.) To us “outstanding”has meant being slightly outside of the box in terms of expectations and service and think about everyone who helped us along the way and was a part of it and of course all of our customers from then until now

To reach the British restaurant and pub located on S. Halsted Street in Chicago, you can take public transportation or drive and park nearby. If taking public transportation, take the train to the Cermak-Chinatown station and then transfer to either the 8 or 62 bus heading south. Get off at the stop closest to Halsted Street and walk north until you reach your destination.

If driving, take the I-90/94 highway towards downtown Chicago and exit at Roosevelt Road. Make a right onto S. State Street, which turns into S. Wabash Avenue, and then make a left onto W. Cermak Road. Turn right onto S. Halsted Street and look for parking options along the street or in nearby parking lots/garages.
