Hi gang! Tune in Weekend Morning Show later on this morning 7:40ish! Going to be talking about our brunch menu and our new & popular Sinigang fish sando.

….. a little on what goes on in the kitchen before the food comes out.
Thank you to everyone who attends my little chef’s 4 course tasting menu event. This is my third one and can’t wait for next month’s dinner.
How is this different from other restaurant’s tasting menu? First, its affordable. It’s priced at $43 (my age lol). Can’t beat that! Secondly, the menu ranges from what I cook at the restaurant and what I cook at home for my family so essentially you’re getting a home cooked meal :)
Come on, the food is served on disposables.
Thirdly, I take these dinners as an opportunity to serve you guys like you are family. I love sitting down to interact and get to know you guys better.
Thank you guys again for keep coming for these dinners. I absolutely love them! Next one is set for 6/24/26. Can’t wait to have you guys in.
Big shout out to Ash for the assistance for these dinners :)

What a difference….. it’s been exactly 60 days ago since my surgery and I’m so happy to be cancer free. I want to call this my “comeback era” as I rebuild the business and regain my strength back. Slowly, but surely and keeping busy.
One thing is for sure that I’m so grateful to everyone who kept ATOTP alive when I was out. It’s really does take a village and I’m so lucky to have people that care about me, my family and staff. You guys are amazing!
It was rough. The mental toll it took on me was so hard more than the physical aspect of this whole ordeal. I’m happy to be out and being active, but I know I still have a long ways to go until I get everything back. In time, I just have to be patient.
Here we go 🔥🔥🔥🔥

I have officially outgrown our tiny kitchen and thats a fact 👌🏽 I have quite a few items on hold for new eats, but first…… I’m so excited to partner with using their Bacolod inasal marinade for our chicken inasal. I typically create our own sauces in house, but was blown away with this marinade. Plus, I love supporting our community and try to work with small businesses in Chicago. Look out, the chicken inasal will be on the menu more often.
See you guys for brunch this week! It’s going to be a busy one.

ATOTP turns 14 as a business this week and 2 years as a brick and mortar in Jefferson Park! Can’t believe my first baby is getting “older” and I have you all to thank for this amazing ride.
Make sure to celebrate with us this Saturday….. I’ll be working the front from 9-11:30ish. We will have some specials AND will do a couple of giveaways! Keep your eyes peeled in my story. This celebration will be a little different for me this year as I continue with my recovery.
I always gets emotional around this time. I’m so grateful for you guys for all your continued support with the business and my health journey. And to my wonderful staff…. thank you so much for all you guys do and for holding it down.
Cheers to the next 14 years 🇵🇭

Chi-Ibigan II was a success! It felt a little different for me this year as I had to sit back and taking it easy as I’m still recovering from my surgeries.
Chef Lawrence created this event as a way to celebrate Filipino food, our culture and community. And wow, I must say the community showed up. I left around 7pm, but from photos and videos from last night it looks like it was an amazing time. A portion of tickets sales is also going to charity. So not only is Chi-Ibigan a great time, it’s also for a great cause.
Speaking of community, everyone from to to Bayan Ko’s own Kimberly and my boo bear, Ash who helped with service yesterday! Social thanks to Ed and Andrew for all the prep work that went behind the scenes. Thank you guys so much for your help!
Lastly, I want to thank Kuya Chef Lawrence of Bayan Ko for getting us together. Last year we pulled this all off in 2.5 weeks and this year, was even bigger. I’m surrounded by all the talented Chefs all around. Chicago, we are truly lucky!
Can’t wait for next year.

It’s Spring Break so this week has been a little chaotic and tiresome while recovering and having both girls home. This morning, we stopped by at work for a bit. Per usual, they’re hungry especially little Oak so Ed and I thought it’d be funny to mess with her a bit. I’m glad she thought it was funny because usually she’s yelling at us for being slow at serving her food 😂
See you guys for brunch tomorrow. I’ll be by for a bit…. we open from 9-2pm.

Words can’t describe how I’m feeling right now. Jon & crew from put together a little fundraiser event for A Taste of the Philippines last night. Soon, the Jefferson Park Chamber of Commerce, our Alderman Jim Gardner and Block Club Chicago reach out to help with the fundraiser.
I wish I could have been there to shake everyone’s hands last night and thank everyone individually for taking the time to show up. I wish I could have heard the heartfelt stories told throughout the evening about ATOTP’s impact in our community. I’m so incredibly lucky to live in a neighborhood where people care about their own, a little business like mine.
Jon and crew from PRB, your kindness to host this event without hesitation and give a portion of your sales and all the tips truly means a lot to me. Like I’ve said multiple times, I can’t thank you guys enough.
Bella and Brian from , thank you guys so much for doing the 50/50 raffle and the gift cards and for helping spread the word. You guys have been behind ATOTP since day 1.
I love living and working in our community and this is what it’s all been about. Showing up for each other!
Maraming, Maraming Salamat 🇵🇭
Love,
Kathy

F you cancer, you got me! I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. The upside is that it’s early enough and noninvasive. In a couple of weeks I’m going to have a mastectomy in hopes of getting rid of the cancer. It’s been a lot to process for me, I was so angry at first, like why me? I eat healthy, I don’t drink or smoke, etc. Now I’ve had time to process I’m at peace with all of this and have a positive outlook.
What does this mean for ATOTP? My team will continue to serve you guys some delicious brunch! Unfortunately, I’ve had to shut down the catering side. As you guys know, the catering side accounts for half of the business and I need your help! If you able, please purchase a gift card for future use (my target date back is mid May). This will allow to offset the loss of catering income. Anything will help. The link is in my bio. Thanks so much for the support. Let’s kick this cancer’s ass!

Same flavor, different form for our chicken coconut milk (MANOK sa Gata). It was a hit today 🔥🔥 Did I mention it’s gluten free? I need a bigger kitchen so I can roll out more deliciousness like this on the daily.
PS, don’t mind Ash…. she randomly sings, I love it & it cranks me up😂🤣😂🤣
Thanks for an awesome service today gang! See you Wednesday🔥👌🏽

Story time……. October of 2011, I couldn’t decide what to name my new food business. It was down to two names…… Rice Toppings (I had a vision of the logo and all lol) or A Taste of the Philippines (not so cool but people understand what I was selling).
Obviously, you guys know which one I went with. It’s been the same name for almost 14 years. I’d like to think that the business has stayed true to its name “A Taste” of my homeland. Authentic and with some fun twist to our Filipino ingredients.
When shopping for the restaurant space back in 2022/2023, I was going to rebrand to make it sound “cooler”, but decided to keep the name since it’s who I was. No marketing strategy, not infringing on others or anything, just keeping true to what I started so long ago. I’m so happy to have kept the name!
Shoutout to my old friend Mike L for designing my brilliant logo👌🏽🔥
See you guys for brunch soon!

1983 seems like a lifetime ago right? Today, I am 43! I feel like I’m at peace with who I’ve become as a mother, a wife, a sister, a daughter, a boss and a business owner. I’m happy and grateful to have this life of contentment and most of all to do what I do for the community and my career. I love my little circle and small village. I used to mourn my old self, but now I’m digging the gray hair and minimal fine lines on my face so far lol. I feel 33 most days :)
Thank you guys for being a part of my journey in life and my business. I’m always so glad when I see regulars come through and to meet new faces. It means a lot to me.
Can’t wait to see you guys for brunch!
Cheers 🥂🤓

What people say
If you're looking for a unique and flavorful dining experience, Filipino restaurants are a must-try. And if you happen to be in Chicago, A Taste of the Philippines on N Clinton Street is definitely worth checking out. This restaurant offers a wide range of classic Filipino dishes such as chicken adobo, pancit, bistek Tagalog, and kare-kare. But what sets them apart is their creative take on these traditional dishes.
Their manok sa gata (chicken in coconut milk) is a must-try - the creamy sauce perfectly complements the tender chicken. And their ginulayang tofu/manok/shrimp (vegetable stir fry with either tofu, chicken or shrimp) is a delicious and healthy option for those looking for something lighter. Of course, no Filipino meal is complete without lumpia (Filipino spring rolls), and A Taste of the Philippines' beef and vegetarian lumpias are some of the best we've had.
But what really makes A Taste of the Philippines stand out is their commitment to sharing Filipino culture through food. They serve at farmers markets and offer catering services, making it easy for anyone to try their delicious dishes. And with friendly service and reasonable prices, this restaurant is definitely worth a visit. So next time you're in Chicago, make sure to stop by A Taste of the Philippines on N Clinton Street - your taste buds will thank you!
