Arepas de Coco puertorriqueñas…not the same as Colombian or Venezuelan arepa. Our arepa is rooted in the traditions of Afro-Caribbean cuisine, reflecting the island’s blend of Spanish ingredients (wheat, frying techniques) and African influences (coconut use and fritter traditions).

Traditional Puerto Rican coconut fritters inspired by the coastal flavors of Loíza—crispy on the outside, soft and lightly sweet inside. Ask for them at La Bruquena, always con sabor a patria.

Guanimes – A Taste of Taíno Heritage

One of Puerto Rico’s oldest traditional foods, guanimes trace their roots to the Taíno people of Borikén, who prepared ground corn dough wrapped in leaves and gently boiled. Simple, comforting, and deeply authentic, this humble dish has been enjoyed for centuries and remains a beloved staple of jíbaro cuisine. Traditionally served alongside bacalao guisado, guanimes honor the island’s Indigenous culinary legacy — con sabor a patria.

One of the greatest blessings that our beloved La Bruquena has given us is the privilege of welcoming so many outstanding Puerto Rican brothers and sisters — including our Major League Baseball heroes.

Today, our hearts are filled with immense pride for one of our own, Carlos Beltrán, on his well-deserved induction into the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame.

Congratulations, Carlos! Your talent, dedication, and legacy continue to inspire generations. Puerto Rico celebrates you — and so do we. 🇵🇷⚾❤️
