Thank you all for your heartfelt messages and support. It truly means the world to us during this bittersweet time. Your stories and memories of Pepe's remind us of the joy we've shared together over the years, and we're so grateful to have been a part of your lives.

Pepe's has proudly served the Waukegan community for an exact total of 44 years. The original location was opened by Mike Steele and Tim Moran on Lewis Ave. in 1980, and Mike later relocated to Green Bay Road. Following him, Jamie Meadows took over, and then my husband and I in 2020, we have since carried on this cherished legacy. We want to ensure our history is accurately represented!

As a reminder, tomorrow, October 31st, our doors will close for the last time. We appreciate your interest in our salsa recipe! While we are unable to share our recipes, we invite you to visit the other Pepe's locations in the Chicagoland area, where you can continue to enjoy your favorite dishes.

As we close this chapter, we want to express our deepest gratitude to all of you for your loyalty and support. Your patronage kept our doors open, and we’re honored to have served you. We appreciate your patience with our long wait times as everyone is trying to get a seat. Unfortunately, we aren’t retiring; we have a long way to go before we hit that mark. However, we are focusing on our careers outside of owning a restaurant and on our little family. Let's make the most of our final days together—stop by for your favorite dish and a margarita one last time!

It’s with a heavy heart and a deep sense of gratitude that I announce the closing of this chapter in my life as the owner of Pepe's Mexican Restaurant in Waukegan. Pepe's has been more than just a business for me; it was my very first job right out of high school, a place that helped me grow my customer service skills, build lasting friendships, and make unforgettable connections.

In 2020, during one of the most uncertain times, my husband and I took a leap of faith and took over ownership when the restaurant was on the brink of closing. We pushed through the challenges, kept jobs, and made sure that Pepe's remained open when so much was uncertain. However, as time has passed, we’ve decided it's time to move forward.

Pepe's in Waukegan will officially close its doors on October 31, 2024. While this location will be closing, there are still other Pepe's in the Chicagoland area to enjoy. This decision is a bittersweet one, but my husband and I are ready to devote more time to our family and embrace the next chapter of our lives.

To our amazing customers, thank you for being the heart and soul of this restaurant. Your loyalty, smiles, and support over the years made every moment worthwhile. Your patronage kept our doors open, and without you, we wouldn’t have made it this far. It has truly been an honor to serve you and be a part of your lives.

And to our dedicated employees, some of whom have been with Pepe's for over 30 years, words cannot express how grateful we are for your hard work, commitment, and passion. You’ve become more than just employees you've become family. Thank you for the countless hours, the unwavering dedication, and for helping us build a place that so many have come to love.

As we prepare to say goodbye, we invite everyone to stop by and enjoy your favorite dish and a margarita one last time. Let's make these final moments together as memorable as the years we've shared. Thank you all for being a part of this incredible journey with us.
