Friendly reminder that we will be closed for my wedding starting this Wednesday, 10/21, through Monday, 10/26! It will be a busy week as we’re not only doing a formal, contemporary wedding, but also incorporating the Chinese Tea Ceremony into our celebrations. 💍 If you would like to learn more about this traditional wedding ritual, swipe ahead! These next few slides are from my aunt and uncle’s own tea ceremony back in 2015! 🫖

The tea ceremony is one of the most significant rituals in a traditional Chinese wedding, bringing members of a family to celebrate the new union. In offering tea to their elders, the couple shows gratitude and respect and receives blessings for their life together. Jewelry, or red envelopes filled with money, are typical gifts given to the bride and groom.🧧This intimate ritual is a beautiful blend of tradition, love, and respect, connecting families and creating lifelong memories. Along with tea, there is also a feast! Everything from a whole roasted pig, to roasted ducks, steamed chickens, and a bounty of different fruits adorn the table altar. 🐖

There are a lot more symbolism and rites involved in a traditional Chinese wedding, but it would be too lengthy to list them all for an IG/FB post. So thanks for reading this brief overview! I just wanted to share a bit about our family’s cultural practices so that if you stopped by during the weekend and see that our shop is closed, decorated in red, and with a enormous 30 lbs roasted pig on a table in the middle of our store, you’ll have some idea of what’s going on!

Apple Fest 2026! Y’all showed out this year and we felt all the love and support ❤️🙌

This year, we bought line stanchions to try and help manage the crowd. We were blown away when people would line up right before we opened for the day. When we sold out, we would put a sign indicating a restock in 20mins-1 hour, and still people would begin queuing up again! 😱 It’s amazing to see how far we’ve come from our first years at Apple fest to now—look at that dinky tent in the last slide haha

We see a lot of discourse online regarding the massive crowds and that’s why we took it upon ourselves to buy stanchions to help manage the queue this year. A big shout out to my beautiful fiancé who suggested that idea.👸🏽 Hopefully, next year’s Apple Fest can be more easily navigated with more structured queuing like our booth.

From a vendor’s perspective, Apple fest is one of the most successful events of the year for us. You can really see the heart and soul that is poured into this event by the LSRCC staff. I think it’s a testament to their hard work that Apple Fest is as big as it is. Of course improvements can always be made and so our suggestion is more structured queuing! A big thank you to all of you who come out to these events— you are what makes this worth it! 🍎

One year ago today we’ve relocated to our new place on Montrose! Since then, we’ve had such a busy and fulfilling year. Whether it’s teaching entrepreneurship to Girl Scout troops, hosting a neighborhood whistle-packing event, or having space available for a community book-binding function, it’s such a special feeling to have created a space where our community can gather!

We love when family pop-in for a chat and even more so when they’re dropping off home made lumpia! When my mom and I were going around prepping the space for our grand opening, we often talked about what we hoped this space would become. To see it all come together at our 1 year anniversary (14 years in total!), we can’t help but feel amazed, grateful, and fulfilled ❤️
