One of our biggest hits this last week was our bonito tuna bocadillo, new to the carryout menu. It features oil-packed bonito tuna, lemon-capers dressing, garlic aioli, pickled red onions, and arugula. Bright fresh flavors in warm toasty bread. Another new addition to our carryout menu: our daily Smørrebrød - a Danish open-faced sandwich often time featuring smoked fish and fresh seasonal ingredients served or seeded rye. While Chef Jeremy was living in Copenhagen, working at the world-renown restaurant Noma, smørrebrød quickly became his favorite meal on the go. Our features gravlax cured salmon, dill creme fraiche, infused caper oil, pickled red onions, and smoked salmon roe. Come by cafe door (north of the patio) for carryout dining, or call ahead to place an order for pickup at (773) 234-2768. We are serving this beautiful dish until 8pm this evening. Come on by and say hello!

Seasoned avocado, lemon vinaigrette, cherry tomatoes, cucumber marinated in aguachile, pickled red onion, custard egg, toasted sesame, and a few petals from our living edible garden. Served on sourdough batard.

At Gold Goose we are so excited to be partnering with for our bread needs. For a restaurant like us focused primarily on ‘things on toast’ the toast is pretty darn important. We couldn’t be happier with head baker Melissa’s sourdough for our tartines, and baguettes for the bocadillos. She is supremely talented and baking the best bread in the city. How beautiful is this sourdough?

The café and restaurant can be accessed via public transport by taking the Brown Line to the Chicago CTA station. From there, walk east on Chicago Avenue for two blocks and then turn left on N. Aberdeen Street. The café and restaurant will be on the right.

For those who prefer driving, take I-90/94 to exit 50A for Ohio Street. Keep left at the fork and follow signs for Ontario Street E/Kingsbury Street S. Turn right on N. Kingsbury Street and then turn left onto W. Erie Street. Take another left onto N. Ada Street before turning right onto W. Superior Street. Finally, turn right onto N. Aberdeen Street where the café and restaurant can be found.

There is limited street parking available near the café and restaurant, but there are several paid parking lots in the area for those who prefer to park their car instead of relying on public transport or walking.
