606 Coffee Roasters

606 Coffee Roasters 606 Coffee Roasters is a veteran-owned coffee roasting company situated in the Northwest side of Chicago. Founded by Purple Heart recipient Alberto Boleres, the establishment aims to provide coffee enthusiasts with the highest quality brews sourced from around the globe. Boleres was inspired to create 606 Coffee Roasters after observing the dedication of people waiting in long lines for their coffee, even in extreme heat. His journey began when he became certified by Guatemala's National Coffee Association while visiting the country in 2011, leading him to form valuable connections with organic farms that supply his beans. Initially focused on Guatemalan coffee, he has since expanded sourcing to include beans from Ethiopia and Mexico, constantly seeking new exceptional sources. The name "606" resonates with the spirit of Chicago, as it reflects the zip codes within the city's limits—a homage to a city that nurtured Boleres's business acumen and personal growth.

Today we thank our founder/head roaster, Alberto, on Purple Heart Day which is observed on August 7th.

It is an annual day to honor and remember U.S. service members who were wounded or killed in combat, commemorating the creation of the Purple Heart medal by General George Washington in 1782.

One day while serving in Iraq in 2006-2007, our founder, was waiting for his coffee in 100°+ weather when he came up with the idea of opening a coffee shop.

We want to thank, Francis, from for all the hospitality he showed us during our origin coffee trip in Guatemala.

Francis reached out to us last year while expo in Chicago to rekindle the relationship we had with his late brother, Mario Perez.

Our relationship goes back many years since we began roasting and importing our own green beans in 2015.

We are excited to announce that we will be carrying new varietals from their farm such as a washed yellow bourbon, a natural processed pink bourbon and a geisha cupped at 88 points!
