Happy Blue Moon 🌝
Tonight is the second full moon in May, making it officially a Blue Moon! The flavor however, has nothing to do with the moon phases. It's popular in the Midwest, specifically in Michigan and Wisconsin. It has a somewhat ambiguous flavor profile with some people saying it tastes like "blue," "lemon," "smurf," or "marshmallow."

We love combining two classics to make it even better, like mint ice cream and chocolate cookies to make a fresh mint cookies 'n cream. It's simply a bonus that the fresh mint ice cream is extra refreshing on a hot day.

So two Lemons walk into a Bar...
And they leave with a pint🍺🍋
Just in time for the unofficial start of summer, we brought back the "So two Lemons walk into a Bar..." We are huge fans of this pint for its richness of the lemon ice cream. Plus, to really take it to the next level, we swirled in lemon curd and handmade graham crackers.
This pint started as a monthly flavor, but our love for it (and constant requests from you!) made it a summer staple. We'll have it on the menu though, roughly, Labor Day.

Shhh, let them Stracciatella story already!
This Italian inspired pint comes from the Stracciatella gelato you can all over Italy. "Stracciatella" means to drizzle and is often used to describe the cheese, a soup, or in our case ice cream where they drizzle liquid chocolate into the vanilla ice cream for a chocolate chip effect.
While the name may be difficult to pronounce (stra·chuh·teh·luh), we like to think there's a story in every pint 😉 and when in doubt, "vanilla chip" works too!

Put your right hand in and do the hokey pokey 🙋
This honeycomb candy is more candy than honey but it's crunchy (hence why they they might call it a Crunchie bar in some Commonwealth countries) and it looks like honeycomb!
We add it to vanilla ice cream, where it melts a little and gives the vanilla an upgraded caramel-esque swirl and little crunch.
We first learned about Hokey Pokey while studying abroad in New Zealand and when we couldn't find it back in the U.S. we knew we had to make it a staple on our menu!
Psst, you can find Hayden, our native Kiwi (!!) working at Palatine Farmers Market every Saturday from 7am-1pm.

We've got a new(ish) face around here!
As we expand to Palatine Farmers Market for the summer, Hayden will be working our booth allowing Ice Cream Girl to officially be in two places at once!
As a native kiwi, he's all about that Hokey Pokey ice cream we've had on the menu since day one! But he's also not so new to the Palatine market- he used to have a micro greens business before we switched over to the sweeter side of things 😄

💥It's a vibe✨
While the Reese's With-a-Spoon pint contains 0 actual Reese's, it does certainly have a Reese's vibe. We make all the mix-ins of our pints, so for this one, we took chocolate ice cream and swirled in peanut butter and chunks a chocolate, peanut butter chuchies.
It's one of our most popular flavors, but it's cousin, the vanilla variety with the same stuff inside, called "Build me up (Peanut) Butter cup" is also not to be missed.

Holy Cannoli!
As the weather warms up in Chicago, we're still dreaming we're on a beach in Sicily eating a cannoli 🇮🇹
We took this inspiration for a pint and broke it down: cannoli filling ice cream, with chunks of chocolate chips, pistachios, and of course, broken cannoli shells.

Obligatory First Day of picture!
We're so excited to be back for our 4th (!!!) season here.
Plus, this year, we've expanded to Palatine Farmers Market as well, where you can catch Hayden working there and still pick up your pints!
Some fun facts about Ice Cream Girl:
✨ I started in 2020 after a year of traveling around Eastern Europe and SE Asia and now get a lot of flavor inspiration from traveling
✨ I used to work in pastry kitchens around Chicago including Girl & the Goat, Duck Duck Goat, and Little Goat. Now we make all the mix-ins in our pints (fudge, brownies, buttered pecans, etc.)
✨ Our first "job" experience was learning how to make ice cream from a local ice cream shop. And yes, I had to bring a "resume" at the age of 10 to ask the owner.

Go Shorty, go!
A take on the strawberry shortcake ice cream bars, we layered vanilla ice cream with strawberry sherbet and then added that crumble that coats the outside of each bar.

Once in a Blue Moon, we get a blue moon!
While, blue moons are technically defined as two full moons in a calendar month (May 1 & May 31), this pint of blue moon has a lot less definition! Some say it tastes like "smurf" or "blue raspberry" or "marshmallow." We'll leave the descriptors up to you on this one!
We like to say this pint is a Midwestern favorite, but really it's more commonly found in Michigan and Wisconsin than here in Illinois, which is exactly why we felt we needed to add to the monthly menu this month!

You've Goat to be Kidding that the next swirl in our goat cheese ice cream is blueberry jam??
The OG swirl is back! We started with this flavor as a monthly flavor before making a year round flavor in 2025 with different jams and swirls. The blueberry jam will be around for a bit until we decide to switch things up again!

If you're anything like us and walked into an ice cream shop and heavily debated between the scoop of chocolate and the scoop of cookie dough ice creams, this pint is for you!
We think it's overlooked as a pint far too much, but two classics twisted together should never be overlooked in our opinion.
We took our classic chocolate, rich chocolate ice cream and added chunks of cookie dough to make a reverse cookie dough: Dough Cookie Chip Chocolate.

So much chocolate it went a little wild 😁
We intended to make a chocolate ice cream for the truly chocolate-holics. And we think we've managed to do it. We took our chocolate ice cream, added a fudge swirl, and then threw some brownie chunks in for good measure 🍫
