Hienie's Hienie's is a classic American restaurant with roots dating back to 1947 when founder Henry McCarthy borrowed $500 to open a fresh fish store in Hammond Indiana. Hienie's Shrimp House became an instant success and eventually evolved into the family-run business it is today, spanning three generations across multiple locations including S Torrence Avenue and Orland. Don't miss out on this beloved piece of Chicago history.

It’s time for this old guy to retire and pass Hienies on to the 4th generation. We (Denise and I) have owned Hienies for over 20 years and have been blessed with so many great employees and customers, we would like to thank you all. My nephew Dean will be carrying on the tradition as of April 4th. He has been working for us 10+ years and we’re sure he can continue uphold the name. We’re in our 75th year and and still use the same recipes and quality ingredients and we’re sure he will too.

Thank you all,
Larry Dal Santo

American restaurants are known for their delicious and hearty meals that leave you feeling satisfied. Hienie's, located on S Torrence Avenue in Chicago, is no exception to this. This family-owned American restaurant has been serving up mouth-watering dishes for over 73 years and three generations.

What started as a fresh fish store in Hammond Indiana, quickly turned into a successful business after customers suggested frying the fish and shrimp. Thus, Hienie's Shrimp House was born. Today, Hienie's on Torrence offers a wide variety of dishes that will satisfy any craving.

Their menu includes classic American favorites such as burgers, sandwiches, and hot dogs. But what sets Hienie's apart from other American restaurants is their seafood selection. From fried shrimp to catfish dinners, their seafood is always fresh and cooked to perfection.

The atmosphere at Hienie's is warm and welcoming with friendly staff who make you feel right at home. The restaurant itself has a cozy feel with vintage decor that adds to its charm.

Overall, if you're looking for a delicious meal in a family-friendly environment, look no further than Hienie's on S Torrence Avenue. With their rich history and dedication to quality food and service, it's no wonder they've been around for over seven decades.
