When Anna Myint, whom I met through James Beard Foundation’s WEL program, invited the ladies to come to Nashville for Hands Please, the only answer was HELL YES. It was a quick hour flight, great food and great people.

I don’t really post my personal things on Tacotlan’s page but I wanted to share a little something with all of you to hopefully use our platform to help one of my friends.
Today we had a tribute for one of my dearest friends, Cecil to share with him just how much he means to us because isn’t it better to do this when someone is still with us?
Cecil is battling ALS.
I met Cecil over 20 years ago at CareerBuilder, where I started my sales career.
Just last year in January, he, my friend Jodie and I hung out at Hugo's Frog Bar & Fish House in Rosemont and talked for hours about life and how difficult his journey had been to conceive and how challenging of a time it was for him and his wife, Grace. He also shared that he had been feeling a little weird and was going to the doctor to look into it.
A few months after we saw each other, there was a little miracle on the way! He and Grace were expecting but… that excitement was short lived because a few weeks after that, he was diagnosed with ALS.
Their miracle baby Lizzie was born and she’s the cutest, chunkiest and most snuggly little thing.
Cecil’s health on the other hand is declining rapidly. So much so that he now requires 24 hour care. If you guys can and want to, would you mind donating to my dear friend’s GoFundMe, so that we can make life just a tad bit easier on his family? If you can’t, we understand but please share this! We would appreciate it so much.

We’re always thinking of new ways to take something familiar and make it more fun, creative, and unexpected. That’s how our shaped tortas became a thing, and the pumpkin torta is just the latest idea to come out of that.
We love being innovative, trying new things, and keeping people excited about what we’ll come up with next.

Today’s meeting really rejuvenated me. Being in a room with other chambers, sharing ideas, learning from each other, and talking about how we can bring more resources back to our communities reminded me why this work matters so much.
There is so much power in collaboration. The more we connect, the more we learn, and the more we can help our businesses grow.
At the end of the day, it’s about making sure our people have access to the resources, relationships, and opportunities they need to build successful businesses. Grateful for days like today that get me excited all over again.
