This is Fancy Plants Cafe’s last week in Chicago!

Come through and show us some love, and be sure to come to our Farewell Party & Fundraiser too!

We’re open 8:00 - 3:00 through Sunday,
This weekends dinners are Sold Out,
Fancy Plants Farewell Party is Wednesday October 21st at Emporium Wicker Park!
There will be bands, DJs, Dancing, and Vegan Food by Ste Martaen.

FANCY PLANTS IS HERE FOR ONLY 15 MORE DAYS! Our last day for the cafe and dinner parties is on October 18th.

I realized this last night as I was finishing with our Vegan Cheesemaking Class, and it was all of a sudden October. (2 spots left tonight!)

This is really starting to sink in for me, and I have a lot of gratitude for the last 8 years.

I’m grateful to everyone who’s put in effort to make this improbable vegan cafe in the Midwest thrive and survive for 8 years, for our customers who are showing a lot of love, and for our dinner party attendees who are buying up all 64 seats each weekend in a matter of hours.

I’m so excited for the coming changes, and I hope you’ll continue to follow me at Kevin Schuder

I’ll be driving across the country with a car full of ferments and kitchen gear and ready to start again in LA.

I’ll be working as a private chef, throwing 5-course vegan social dinner parties, and living my life in the City of Dreamers.

There are 3 weekends left of Fancy Plants in Chicago!
Sunday October 18th will be the last day of the Cafe and Dinner parties.

BUT KEVIN, WILL SOMEONE BE TAKING OVER THE CAFE!? Good question!
There is an absolutely wonderful candidate who is considering the cafe. Taking on a business is a process that takes some time, and when it’s done, I probably won’t be the person to announce it. It’ll be their show, and I’ll be their cheerleader too. They’ll be amazing.

This weekend we are featuring one of our last 3 menus, our Japanese Fall Dinner!

It incorporates different misos and ferments I’ve made, and some fun and tasty ideas that Paula had on her trips to Japan. This is some of my favorite food to cook, and I am excited to share this comforting dinner just as Chicago is starting to turn cool and crisp for fall.

There will be special Homemade Miso I’ve been aging for 3 months, Onigiri CRISP filled rice balls, Chinese Broccoli and Kabocha Squash with special sweetened soy and Furikake, our Agedashi Tofu Bowl with Seitan Chashu, and a Chestnut Creme Brulee served in a Japanese Sweet Potato (?!)

Lastly, there is 2 or 3 spots left at our Final Vegan Cheesemaking Classes on Wednesday and Thursday! Come say hi one last time, eat well, and make some vegan cheese with me.
