Some dishes never go out of style ❤️

Our “Gallinita al Horno” is one of our staples featuring a roasted Cornish hen topped with our dark semi-sweet mole made from scratch, finished with toasted sesame seeds and a side of rice.

Rich, comforting and deeply rooted in Oaxacan tradition, it’s the kind of meal meant to be enjoyed slowly and savored until the very last bite.

A dessert with centuries of history… and one of Oaxaca’s sweetest traditions 🥥✨

Our coconut nicuatole is a delicate pre-Hispanic dessert originally made by the Zapotecs using corn and natural ingredients, long before milk-based desserts became common in Mexico. Light, silky, and gently sweet, it’s one of those dishes many Oaxacans grew up eating at family celebrations, markets, and fiestas.

Finding nicuatole outside of Oaxaca is uncommon — finding it in Chicago is even more special. Come try a little piece of our roots at Kie Gol Lanee 🤍

We are open on Memorial Day at both locations, see you soon!

Meet Martina: the talent behind the cocktails for our "Noche Oaxaqueña" on April 29 🍸🌵✨

Born in Italy and behind the bar since the age of 17, Martina has built her career across the world, from Thailand to Barcelona and Oaxaca, bringing with her a deep passion for storytelling through cocktails.

Martina spent nearly five years in Barcelona, including time at Paradiso, one of the most celebrated bars in the world and former #1 on the World’s 50 Best Bars list, known for its creative techniques and culinary innovation.

In 2023, her love for Mexican culture and agave spirits brought her to Oaxaca, where she became Bar Manager at Selva Oaxaca, helping keep the bar on the North America’s 50 Best Bars list, earning recognition from The Pinnacle Guide and winning Best Cocktail Menu at the SHAKER Awards.

Now, Martina has put the same creativity and passion to Noche Oaxaqueña, crafting the special cocktail pairings for our 3-course mezcal dinner with El Huésped Mezcal.

This is not just dinner — it’s an experience.
Rare dishes. Exceptional mezcal. World-class cocktails. One unforgettable night.

Today we celebrate the incredible women who help bring Kie Gol Lanee to life every single day. 💐

From the kitchen to the dining room, from the first prep in the morning to the last plate served at night, promoting our restaurant and sharing the love forour food, these women carry the heart of Kie Gol Lanee with strength, care, and dedication.

Today we honor María, Sandra, Mary, Reyna, Mia, Chio, Mary Chuy, Fernanda, Mary Jude, Rosalía, Doña Lili, and Andrea — women who cook, lead, support one another, and make our restaurant feel like family.

In Mexican culture, women are often the guardians of tradition, the keepers of recipes, and the ones who teach us that food is love. We’re grateful for the many amazing women who walk through our doors — our clients, neighbors, and friends who continue to support us and share our table.

Feliz Día Internacional de la Mujer. Today and every day, we celebrate you. 💜

Today marks an important day when many are showing support in different ways in response to what’s happening in our country. As a family-run restaurant, closing our doors isn’t something we can afford to do for our employees and our own families—but that doesn’t mean we can look away.

What’s happening has impacted us not only economically, but personally. We know families in our own community who are being separated. These are people we call neighbors and we see in our schools. It hurts, and it weighs heavy on us.

At Kie Gol Lanee, supporting our community has never been about one single day or one single post. Over the years, we’ve shown up however we could—supporting fundraisers for our neighbors, cancer awareness, standing with the LGBTQ+ community and more recently coming together for our immigrant community through events like Todos Ponen. Sometimes that support is visible, and sometimes it happens quietly, behind the scenes—but it’s always genuine and ongoing.

We’ll continue to support causes like these in the ways we can, because food is how we show care, love, and solidarity. We’re here today cooking, serving, and welcoming you as always—because community is built in real moments, not just statements.

Thank you for being part of ours, for supporting small businesses and for continuing to show up for one another. 🤍

What people say

Mexican restaurants are known for their bold and flavorful dishes, and Kie Gol Lanee on N Sheridan Road in Chicago is no exception. This family-owned restaurant offers a wide variety of traditional Oaxacan cuisine that will leave your taste buds dancing with delight.

One of the standout dishes at Kie Gol Lanee is the tlayudas, a crispy tortilla topped with beans, cheese, meat, and fresh vegetables. The ceviches are also a must-try, featuring fresh seafood marinated in citrus juices and served with avocado and chips.

For those looking for something heartier, the birria and tamales oaxaqueños are both delicious options. And don't forget to wash it all down with one of their refreshing aguas frescas - the horchata and tamarindo are both popular choices, but be sure to try the unique chilacayota squash cooler as well.

It's no wonder that Kie Gol Lanee has been recognized as a Michelin Bib Gourmand award winner in 2020 and 2021. With authentic flavors and warm hospitality from the Ramos Mendoza Family, this Mexican restaurant is definitely worth a visit.
