Thank you in advance for your support in these difficult times.

For the last 22 years the family at La Sardine has brought so much joy, laughter and larger waist lines (chocolate soufflé anyone?)to the people of Chicago and all over the world. Now one of the worst health crises the world has ever seen, is also slowly devouring small businesses with extra impact on the service industry. As you all know La Sardine along with the rest of the restaurants in the city was forced to close its doors almost 6 months ago, but sadly the doors of La Sardine will remain shuttered. Now we (the staff of La Sardine) who have relied on this place we have called home to pay our bills and put food in our kids mouths are struggling. Forced to seek new employment in and industry that is now operating with skeleton crews with large percentages of industry workers still furloughed, from a hiring standpoint we are at the bottom of the list. This is why we are asking for your help during this difficult time. If you could find it in your hearts to help us, the people you have celebrated birthdays, anniversaries and other milestones with over the last 22 years. All donations will be split evenly between the entire staff. Any little bit will help. We thank you all for the memories love and joy the was spread in that wonderful place over the years. We couldn’t have done it without you!

After much thought and negotiation, it breaks our heart to announce that after 22 years, we will be permanently closing. It has been a true blessing serving you all, and we are so honored that you chose to spend so many of your life’s special moments with us. Truly. We have seen the west loop change completely but we have tried to remain consistent, delicious, but most of all that old school place that knows your name and is excited to see you again! These philosophies were laid by our late founders, Jean-Claude and Susanne Poilevey. We were so blessed with the best staff past and present, too many to name everyone but you know who you are! You guys made this place special and you should be so proud. Covid is an extinction event for restaurants, so please support small family owned places like ours. If we all disappear we will be left with a city of soul-less chain restaurants. isn’t going anywhere so please come see us there! RIP La Sardine 1998-2020

What people say

French restaurants are known for their exquisite cuisine, elegant ambiance, and impeccable service. La Sardine on N Carpenter Street in Chicago is no exception. This Parisian Café with Bistro favorites has been serving the West Loop community for over two decades and has become a beloved spot for locals and tourists alike.

One of the standout dishes at La Sardine is their Cassoulet Toulousain. This hearty dish is loaded with Lamb Stew, Duck Confit, Berkshire Pork Belly, Duck-Armagnac Sausage, and Great Northern White Beans. It's no wonder that customers eagerly anticipate its return every winter.

But it's not just the food that makes La Sardine special. The staff is warm and welcoming, making you feel like you're dining with old friends. The ambiance is cozy and intimate, perfect for a romantic dinner or a night out with friends.

It's unfortunate to hear that La Sardine had to close its doors permanently in 2020 due to the pandemic. However, it's important to support small family-owned restaurants like La Sardine to ensure that we don't lose these unique dining experiences in our communities.

If you're looking for an authentic French dining experience in Chicago, look no further than La Sardine on N Carpenter Street.
