"The thing that separates Byron's Hot Dogs from all the similar hot dog stand restaurants in Chicago is that their food is fantastic, especially for the price. And, when you consider accolades such as being showcased on the White House lawn for a Chicago dog picnic (and articles in the Sun Times about their trip to the White House), being featured in an episode of "Chicago's Best", and being featured in GQ Magazine for "Best Fries" in America (February 2009), you know they're the best! With a huge selection of toppings for your dog, including several types of peppers and original concoctions as well as the standards, Byron's can satisfy anyone with a taste for good short order food. The Byron's dog is a messy, five-napkin Vienna Beef frank that requires a two-handed pickup. But they do much more than just hot dogs; don't be afraid to try their Certified Angus Beef burgers or something else from their extensive menu like French fries or chili tamales."

Visit Byron's Hot Dogs for the hot dog with the most bountiful toppings

People joke that a Chicago dog is basically a salad on a bun, but there's really only one shop in Chicago that sells a hot dog that can actually be described that way. If you ask for a hot dog at Byron's Hot Dogs with everything on it, you're going to get a dog dressed with (brace yourselves) yellow mustard, onions, neon green relish, cucumber, tomato slices, a pickle spear, lettuce, bell pepper, sport peppers, and celery salt. Yes, there's lettuce, bell pepper, and cucumber on this hot dog. For whatever reason, it works, though you are guaranteed to make a mess while eating it. Hey, at least you can say you got your greens in.

Although this sounds cartoonish, you can count me as a fan. I can't think of any singular hot dog in the country that features so much freshness to it. Out of all the hot dogs in Chicago, this is definitely the most unique variation, and whether you end up liking it or not, you'll come away a changed person for having tried one.

Ordered a cheeseburger with fries, as well as a jumbo hot dog with fries, for takeout. Food was hot and delicious and made to order. Will be back when in the area.

To reach the location at Irving Park ~ 1701 W Lawrence in Chicago by public transport, take the train or bus to Irving Park station. From there, walk towards Lawrence Avenue and turn right. Continue walking for approximately two blocks until you reach the destination.

For those driving or taking a taxi, head towards Irving Park and turn onto Lawrence Avenue. The restaurant is located two blocks down on your left-hand side. Parking can be found on the street or in nearby parking lots.
