Yesterday, we told you something exciting was coming. Today, we're ready to share what that something is.

The Village of South Holland is proud to welcome Shawn Michelle’s Homemade Ice Cream, an award-winning and nationally recognized brand, as it expands from Chicago’s historic Bronzeville neighborhood into the south suburbs.
Founded by Chef Yahya, Shawn Michelle’s has become a destination known for more than just dessert. Built on a foundation of craftsmanship, culture, and community, the brand has earned national recognition, including features on the Food Network’s Best Thing I Ever Ate and Netflix’s Somebody Feed Phil.
Drawn to South Holland after visiting the Village several years ago, Chef Yahya saw an opportunity to bring that same level of excellence and experience to a growing and vibrant community.
Beginning May 1, the former SoHo Cafe will be transformed into Shawn Michelle’s Homemade Ice Cream, following renovations from April 13 through the end of the month.
Guests can expect a thoughtfully curated experience centered around:
~Artisan-crafted, small-batch ice cream featuring bold, signature flavors designed to create a truly unforgettable experience
~Timeless desserts like peach cobbler and butter cakes, inspired by tradition and prepared with care and intention
~An atmosphere rich in warmth, familiarity, and connection, where every detail is thoughtfully curated to bring people together and create lasting memories
At its core, Shawn Michelle’s is guided by a simple but powerful standard:
“We deliver uncompromising quality and unforgettable hospitality; every guest, every time.”
This expansion represents more than a new location. It is a continuation of a legacy built on excellence, intention, and creating moments that leave a lasting impression.
The Village of South Holland is excited to welcome Shawn Michelle’s and invites residents and visitors alike to experience what has made this brand a standout across the country.
